Tarragona Cathedral

Tarragona Cathedral

Wow!  Thank goodness I didn’t follow my instincts and NOT go here.

I am weary of Cathedrals and gold and dead saints.  But this place had beautiful art, Roman ruins and a female Patron Saint who kicks ass!
💥!
But first,  Coffee.

This crepe artist was so enthusiastic that the chocolate dripped on my jeans for a little souvenir.

Behold, the hands that welcome you to the Cathedral.
We were pretty impressed with the choir loft.
Obviously the altar was like any other overdone altar because I didn’t even get a picture of it.
They did have a chapel dedicated to the Black Madonna of Montserrat.

Was it her?  Did they borrow her from Montserrat for Christmas?

We never figured it out.  But she looked like the Montserrat Madonna.
They had this little musicians alcove.

Lookit!  Someone is playing the auto harp.  Remember them?

They had a tryptic of Mary with a bunch of women beside her.

I wonder who they all were?  The only information given was “Panel of the Virgin of the Rosary.  Attributed to the Alegret Brothers. 1559”

Here is Sainte Thecla of Tarragona in deep conversation with Paul.
